IAHFE Accreditation

Why IAHFE accreditation is important?

Accreditation

International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) is concerned with setting, maintaining and enhancing the professional and ethical standards of its members who are actively involved in sport education and exercise science.

High standards are promoted in two particular ways:

Through the adoption of a strict .doc doument IAHFE Code of Conduct to which all members must adhere. Violation of this code of conduct can result in sanctions, including removal of accreditation. The code of conduct serves to ensure a minimum level of service to individuals or groups who make use of the range of services offered by sport education.
IAHFE accreditation is awarded to those practitioners who are deemed by the Association to have the minimum knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to be safe and fit to practice as a sport education.
Members may achieve accreditation as a result of work in applied sport/exercise science support, research or pedagogy. In all cases the process and the judgement of generic knowledge, skills and professional practice will apply although how these are expressed and the “client” group will differ.

Those accredited by IAHFE are entitled to use the term International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE)’ while they still fully meet all the relevant accreditation criteria.

In detail…

Applicant Status indicates that an institution has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation. Within ninety (90) days of receipt of application for accreditation, the International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) will review applicant documentation for full accreditation. The granting or continuation of applicant status does not assure that accreditation will eventually be attained.

Full Accreditation Status
Full accreditation is for an indefinite period but renewable annually. At the end of each year a renewal fee is due along with a statement regarding any change as to curriculum, financial change or status of the post secondary institution.

The applicant postsecondary institution completes the order form for the application.

The International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) will send the application for accreditation and booklet to the institution within seven (7) days of receipt of payment.

The applicant postsecondary institution then completes the application for accreditation and returns it to the International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE).

International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) reviews the application and documentation.

International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) uses any obtainable methods to verify the accuracy of the information submitted.

The assessment is performed and includes a review and examination of documentation and records submitted.
Should there be any deficiencies, the applicant postsecondary institution may respond with a written corrective action response.

The corrective action is reviewed by the International Assocation for Health and Fitness Education (IAHFE) and the outcome is communicated to the applicant postsecondary institution.
Accreditation is granted when all concerns are resolved, and all fees are paid in full.
